The Bunkhouse

The Bunkhouse is a complex built especially for groups. As its centrepiece, it has a huge 500m2 activity building with a large stage at one end and a magnificent rural outlook. The bunkhouse lodge has 28 bunkrooms with 4 bunks in each and sleeps 112 people.

The 21 rooms open directly onto the central hall - the remaining 7 rooms are attached to the main complex by a covered walkway, making all facilities comfortable to use in all weather. The rooms are also air-conditioned and heated.

There is a ladies and gentlemen's toilet block, a common room, and a kitchen with fridges, a microwave, an urn, and a toaster. Undercover BBQ area. All you need to bring is linen, blankets, plates, cutlery, cooking equipment and any cooking needs. Linen can be provided for an additional charge.

Families
Ideal for families who want to go "camping without a tent." For recreation, you can bushwalk, swim in the mountain river, ride the "mini rapids" on a rubber tyre tube and sit by the campfire in the evening. There are large open spaces for outdoor games. Canoe hire, a kiosk and a restaurant are also available.

Groups
Schools, church groups, sporting groups, line dancers, craft groups, birthday parties, family reunions, weddings or just a group of friends find the bunkhouse lodge ideal for their needs. The 28 rooms sleep up to 112 people, and the huge central hall provides an all-weather facility for activities. Groups can cater for themselves. No external caterers can cater for groups at Riverwood Downs, but due to the high quality and reasonable prices, most groups prefer us to cater for them. We will be happy to give you menu options and a quote for your group.

Schools
The most popular use of the Bunkhouse is for school camps, fully catered with food the kids really like. We have a regular school clientele, many of whom book from year to year to secure their venue, but there are still plenty of dates available for new clients.

A great feature of Riverwood Downs school camps is that our staff look after the students at meal times, and teachers are given table service in a separate air-conditioned dining room, which provides teachers with three "student-free" breaks each day.

The facilities are suitable for all ages from primary to year 12, and we can provide worksheets and program aids ideal for children of all ages. Canoe hire is also available for an additional charge.

The 28 air-conditioned Bunkrooms sleep up to 112 people, and access to Riverwood Downs is suitable for coaches.

Riverwood Downs Bunkhouse has been used for almost every type of school excursion, including band camps, stream watch, peer support, geography, agricultural, environmental just to name a few.

If you have a special program, or need, we will be happy to work with you to achieve it.

Fully Catered Packages

Rates are available, which include all meals and/or activities packages. As the needs and budget of each group are unique, we will be happy to supply individual quotes to meet your group's needs.

International Groups

Special accommodation, meals, and activity packages are available for overseas students or youth groups. Groups from Japan, Europe, the UK and the USA regularly visit Riverwood Downs to enjoy its wonderful location, food, Australian activities and wildlife.
